Dr. Rahul M. Shah is an exclusive Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon. After years of training and hospital work in Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad and Gujrat he founded Sahyog Maxillofacial Centre in 2015. His practice focuses on simple to complex cases of oral surgery and dental implants utilizing state-of-the-art 3-D imaging and guided technology rarely available in the private clinic setting.

Dr. Shah is attached to Jupiter Hospital and Sahyog hospital, Thane. He performs facial surgery for people with accidental traumas and pathologies. His passion is correcting facial asymmetries to provide better quality of life. For Dr. Shah, the balance of dental practice and hospital work, keeps him on the cutting edge of developments in maxillofacial surgery and technology.

Claronav Navident

He is the one of the FIRST practitioners to introduce Navident dynamic navigation surgery to India and the FIRST in the world to use it for maxillofacial surgery in 2017. He has worked with the Claronav Navident team at their head office in Toronto, Canada in 2019 and since then trained fellow dentists and maxillofacial surgeons in USA, Canada and India. He is a global trainer for Navident.

He is the official speaker for Navident India and Osstem Implants. He has experience in training basic to advanced implantology courses across India including Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Vijayawada and Bhachau. He is the cofounder & director of a digital diagnostic centre called Digital Dentofacial Concepts since 2017 which provides start to end digital implantology solutions to practitioners.

Dr. Shah has completed his BDS from Dr. D Y Patil Dental University Mumbai in 2010 and MDS Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery from Bhartiya Vidyapeeth University Pune in 2014. He has worked at Bethany, Jupiter, Fortis, Godrej, Sushrusha and Hira Mongi hospitals.

Dr. Shah is attached to several private clinics across Thane and Mumbai. He was an integral part of Smile Train Cleft lip & palate team at Godrej Hospital. Dr. Shah has been Faculty at the prestigious AO Cranio-Maxillofacial Surgeons association. He has had a cumulative training in his field of expertise from Tata Memorial Hospital, GSR Institute of Cleft lip & palate and Sion Hospital Mumbai.

What is Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral & maxillofacial surgery (OMS or OMFS) is an internationally recognized surgical specialty.

Maxillofacial” refers to the face and jaw, while “oral” refers to the mouth.

It specializes in treating many diseases, injuries and defects in the head, neck, face, jaws and the hard and soft tissues of the oral cavity.

Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

Common oral and maxillofacial surgeries include:

  • Dental Implants
  • Minimally invasive tooth extractions.
  • Surgical removal of worn down or impacted teeth, wisdom teeth, and retained tooth roots.
  • Biopsies, which are mostly used to diagnose and treat oral cancer
  • Exposing impacted canines to prepare for orthodontic treatment.
  • Surgery to fix jaw discrepancies, which is also referred to as orthognathic (jaw) surgery.
